Tranmere-Web is an independent, supporter-built archive of Tranmere Rovers history. This privacy policy explains what personal information we use when you visit the site or use its community features, why we use it and the choices available to you.

Who we are

Tranmere-Web operates the website at www.tranmere-web.com. The site is not affiliated with Tranmere Rovers Football Club. If you have a privacy question or want to exercise a data-protection right, please use the Contact page and include “Privacy” in your message.

Information we collect

  • Contact messages: your name, email address and the message you send through the Contact page.

  • Account and contribution information: if you log in through Auth0, we receive the account identifier and the profile details supplied by that service, such as your name, email address and profile picture.

  • Comments, ratings and correction suggestions: the content you submit, the page it relates to, the date submitted and the account details needed to attribute and manage the contribution.

  • Technical and usage information: information produced when you use the site, including device and browser activity, IP-related information, pages and resources viewed, performance data and error information.

How we use information

  • To provide, maintain and secure the archive and its account features.

  • To receive and respond to contact messages.

  • To display, moderate and manage comments and ratings, and to review community-submitted corrections.

  • To understand site performance, diagnose errors and improve the visitor experience.

  • To prevent misuse and enforce our community standards.

We rely on the lawful basis that is appropriate to the activity. This will usually be our legitimate interests in running a safe, useful archive, or your consent where you choose to submit a comment, rating, correction or contact message. Where consent is the basis, you can withdraw it, although this will not affect processing already carried out.

Services that process information

We use Auth0 to provide login and account sessions. We use Cloudflare to host and protect the site and its data services. We use Datadog Real User Monitoring to understand performance, errors and visitor interactions; form inputs are configured to be masked in those monitoring tools. Comment text is sent to an automated moderation service to check for harmful content before it is stored or displayed. These providers may process information on our behalf under their own terms and safeguards.

Cookies and local storage

The site and its providers may use cookies or similar technologies that are needed for sign-in, security, site operation and performance monitoring. The Fantasy XI and “Who am I?” features also store your choices and progress in your own browser’s local storage. You can clear this at any time through your browser settings. Where non-essential cookies require consent, we will ask for it before setting them.

Comments and public content

Comments and ratings are community contributions. Your displayed name, profile image, rating and comment may be visible to other visitors. Please do not include personal, confidential or sensitive information in a public contribution. You can request deletion of your own comment through the site, and we may moderate or remove contributions that breach our standards.

Retention

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including keeping the site secure, responding to messages, maintaining archive contributions and meeting legal obligations. Public comments and ratings may remain available until deleted by you or removed by us. We review stored information periodically.

Your rights

Depending on applicable data-protection law, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of, or objection to our use of your personal information, and to request a portable copy of certain information. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office if you are unhappy with how we have handled your information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the site, its features or the services we use change. The latest version will always be available at this page, with the publication date shown below.
