Tranmere story
Liverpool-born defender Aaron McGowan joined Tranmere Rovers on a short-term contract in October 2025. He began his senior career with Morecambe, becoming the club’s youngest-ever first-team player, before moving to Scotland with Hamilton Academical and Kilmarnock. McGowan returned to England with Northampton Town in 2021 and helped the Cobblers win promotion from League Two in 2022–23. An experienced, right-footed defender who has played across the back line, he arrived at Prenton Park after making more than 300 senior appearances.
