Description

Local lad Andy began his football with Cammel Lairds before joining Rovers for a brief spell under Ray Mathias. Played as a striker under Ray, Andy barely got a look-in and made only a solitary substitute appearance before being released in the summer of 2002.

Brian Flynn saw what Ray Mathias didn't and Andy was brought to Swansea City, where following an initial trial, he was a revelation for the Welsh side. Two promotions in his 4 years at Swansea left Robinson as one of the most highly regarded midfielders in the Football League and he was snapped up by Leeds United on a free transfer.

Injuries and competition for places saw his time at Leeds sat mostly on the bench. With his route to first team football limited, he came back to Prenton Park on loan for the closing stages of the 2009-10 season with Rovers all but doomed to relegation.

Things didn't start well as a Red Card on his full debut for Rovers against Brighton saw him suspended for key games during the run-in. While his first start was a disaster, his second start against Millwall saw his score from 25 yards with a wonder goal which helped Tranmere to a 2-0 win. Rovers stayed up with a further win over Stockport County a week later.

After a further loan spell the following season, Andy eventually signed a permanent deal with Rovers spending a further 3 seasons with the club under Les Parry and Ronnie Moore.
