Tranmere story
John Platt is an English former goalkeeper from Ashton-under-Lyne. He began with Ashton United before spending a decade at Oldham Athletic, then represented Bury, Bolton Wanderers and Preston North End. He joined Tranmere Rovers on loan from Preston during the 1984–85 season.
Platt later studied sports management at the University of Salford and worked in community and stadium roles at Oldham.
