Tranmere story

Nigel Howard Adkins is an English football manager, former goalkeeper and physiotherapist born in Birkenhead. After beginning in Liverpool’s youth system, he joined Tranmere Rovers as an apprentice and later moved to Wigan Athletic.

Adkins finished his playing career as player-manager of Bangor City before joining Scunthorpe United’s staff. His managerial career has also included Southampton, Reading, Sheffield United, Hull City, Charlton Athletic and Tranmere Rovers.
