Description

Sean Thornton is a professional footballer born on May 18, 1983, in Drogheda, Ireland. He started his career with Tranmere Rovers in 2001, making 13 appearances and scoring one goal against Wigan Athletic during the 2001-02 season. He then moved to Premier League side Sunderland in July 2002 for a fee of £225,000. Thornton had a successful spell at Sunderland, scoring nine times in 49 league appearances before transferring to Doncaster Rovers in the summer of 2005 for £175,000. Throughout his career, he also had loan spells at Blackpool and Shrewsbury Town, and played for clubs like Leyton Orient, Aberystwyth Town, Conwy Borough, Bala Town, and Drogheda United.
