Tranmere story
Chorley-born goalkeeper Simon Farnworth began his career with Bolton Wanderers and also spent time on loan with Stockport County. He joined Tranmere Rovers on loan from Bolton in January 1987.
Farnworth subsequently played for Bury, Preston North End and Wigan Athletic. After retiring as a player, he moved into physiotherapy, working with Wigan, Liverpool's academy and Morecambe.
