Tranmere story

Aberystwyth-born Alan Morgan came through Tranmere Rovers’ youth system and represented Wales at under-21 level. After leaving Prenton Park, the midfielder played for Doncaster Rovers and Morecambe before continuing his career in Wales with Porthmadog, Cefn Druids, Rhyl, Connah’s Quay Nomads and Bangor City.

Morgan moved into management while still playing and later took charge of Aberystwyth Town, Llandudno and Colwyn Bay. He led Llandudno to the 2014–15 Cymru Alliance title and a first promotion to the Welsh Premier League. He has also worked in coaching roles at Marine and Southport, and became Bootle’s first-team manager in 2025.
