Description

Steve Cooper was a professional footballer who played as a forward. Born on June 22, 1964, Cooper's football career included a notable period at Tranmere Rovers, where he made 42 appearances, including 25 starts and 17 as a substitute, scoring 6 goals. He joined Tranmere Rovers in 1990 from Barnsley for a transfer fee of £100,000 and later moved to York City in 1992 for £30,000. Cooper made his debut for Tranmere against Reading on December 14, 1990. He is also remembered for his time with Airdrieonians, where he scored a memorable headed goal in the semi-final against Hearts, leading to the 1995 Scottish Cup final. Sadly, Steve Cooper passed away on February 15, 2004, at the age of 39, but his legacy in football, particularly at Tranmere Rovers, is fondly remembered by former colleagues and fans alike.
