John Morrissey, born on March 8, 1965, is an English former professional footballer who primarily played as a winger. He began his career with Liverpool as a junior before signing professional forms at 17. Morrissey played for several clubs during his career, including Everton, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Tranmere Rovers.

His most notable spell was with Tranmere Rovers, where he made over 500 appearances in the Football League between 1985 and 1999. Morrissey's son, also named John, followed in his father's footsteps and had a successful career with Tranmere Rovers, making 470 League appearances for the club.

John Morrissey retired from professional football on July 1, 1999, after a distinguished career that saw him become a key figure at Tranmere Rovers and leave a lasting impact on the club.
